I have been a coach/umpire for over 45 years and I feel like "The Old Geezer" from "Small Ball," when I try to teach the pitchers (and also the non-HR hitter types) to bunt...ARGH!

In MLB, my rule: fail to execute a sac bunt,
pay a MAJOR fine and take bunting practice in the cage after the game, until I am satisfied.

Wonder if any of these mopes can bunt?

This is the 2nd time this year, I've forgetten Jason Heyward, and he's one of my favorite players. He hit 18 HR's last year and is basically a lock for 20+. He'd go on the team, instead of Alex Gordon or Carl Crawford. Sorry, J-Hey. Did we miss on anyone else?

In an MLB loaded with first base types, it's too bad we can't find someone good.

However, with Starlin Castro clogging up shortstop, a good defender is almost paramount.

Unless, of course, we could perhaps move Castro, get a short stop with a good glove and throwing arm, and perhaps bring on a lesser defending first baseman.

However, even that isn't a good option. I think the best thing, if it doesn't cost too much, is to get Chris Davis, and let him and LeHair battle it out in Spring Training along with possibly Colvin.

Brandon Webb would be a great deal for the Cubs since he would be very cheap as I heard the deal would be minimal down and the bulk in incentives.

If the Cubs sign Berkman, we should protest. I would have rather kept Hoffpauir.
